Highlights of the FY2023 IPPS Proposed Rule Changes

This presentation will provide an overview of the changes pertinent to health information professionals involved with inpatient documentation, coding, quality measures and reimbursement. The focus will be on changes to the DRG relative weights, CC and, MCC lists, and the quality and performance programs that impact Medicare inpatient reimbursement, particularly the 10 new quality measures CMS is proposing for the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) program. Time will also be spent discussing CMS's initiatives to overhaul the CC/MCC lists, Operating Room Procedure List, and consolidating low volume DRGs in the coming years.


Building an Archival Process for Legacy EMR Data to Support Ongoing Needs

An overview of URMC’s process to archive data from legacy systems used within our organization.   The intake process, scope of data, technical extraction, data validation, and finally converting data to the vendor neutral archive system for usage.  We will review our intake assessment tool, recommendation of questions asked, legal contract review, retention requirements for data and final approval process to archive.  We will present an operational and technical workflow diagram to provide a visual overview.


Accessing Local Health Data through Custom-Built Maps: The RocHealthData.org toolkit

This presentation will be a live demo of the site RocHealthData.org, a data resource for researchers, policy makers, and community members. The site is freely available to anyone interested in the kind and scope of health data available for their communities. Attendees will see how reports and maps are created and may be customized within the site, using multiple layers of health and social determinant data.
